A brief analysis of suitable coal types for two-stage gas generators

       The core advantage of the two-stage gasifier is its strong adaptability, but its gasification efficiency, gas quality and operational stability are highly dependent on the quality and characteristics of the raw coal. This equipment is not universal for all types of coal, and the core requirement is adaptation“Staged gasification”process, especially to meet the reaction needs of the dry distillation section and the gasification section.
       The two-stage gas generator is preferably adapted to non-adhesive or weakly adhesive bituminous coal and anthracite coal, which is the basis for ensuring normal fluidization in the furnace and avoiding coking and gas blockage. The most commonly used bituminous coal has a particle size of 20-60mm. It can uniformly precipitate light tar during retorting, does not stick to the furnace wall, and the gasification reaction is more stable, so it is the mainstream choice.
       Anthracite is also suitable. It has high fixed carbon content, low ash content, high calorific value after gasification, and the carbon content of ash is less than 8%. It is suitable for chemical industry and metallurgical scenarios that require high gas purity. However, it should be noted that its gasification reaction temperature is slightly high, and the air supply parameters need to be optimized.
       Unsuitable coal types need to be strictly avoided: Strongly caking coal (such as fat coal, coking coal) will coke in the retort section, blocking the ventilation channels in the furnace, resulting in uneven gasification; too much pulverized coal (less than 13mm) will cause air flow short circuit and severe ash in the gas; large pieces of coal will not be fully gasified, affecting gas production. In addition, although coal with high ash content and high sulfur can be used, it will shorten the life of the equipment and increase the purification load, so careful selection or pretreatment is required.
