When the lump of coal enters the gasifier for gasification reaction, heat transfer occurs due to the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the coal particles. After a certain period of time, the temperature of the coal particles rises. The water vapor in the coal particles evaporates and the organic matter volatilizes. The inorganic carbonate in the coal decomposes. When the carbon dioxide escapes, the coal blocks crack, making the coal particles smaller. Another reason is that when coal is heated,“from outside to inside”(That is, the outside heats up first, and the inside heats up later), since it is“from outside to inside”When heated, there must be a certain temperature difference between the inside and outside of coal particles. Due to the internal expansion of gasification, internal stress is generated. When the temperature stress is greater than the strength of the coal particles, the coal will crack and become smaller and appear continuously (the property of coal particle size changing after heating is called thermal stability).
