Effect of material layer height on gasification operation of single-stage gasifier

There are many factors that affect the operation of a single-stage gasifier, such as gasification temperature, saturation temperature, material layer thickness, gasification agent selection, etc. Next, we will explain the influence of the height of the unloading layer on the gasification operation of the device.
In the gasifier, the total height of the ash layer, oxidation layer, reduction layer, carbonization layer and drying layer is the material layer height. The height of the material layer is related to the structure type of the device, the particle size of the raw materials, the moisture content in the raw materials, the gasification intensity and other factors.
Single stage gas generatorThe particle size of the coal entering the furnace is large and the moisture content is high. When the gasification intensity is required to be moderate, the height of the material layer can be appropriately higher; otherwise, it can be lower. If the ash layer height is too low, the preheating effect of the gasification agent is not good, and because the oxide layer is close to the grate, the grate may be burned out. The control method is to adjust the ash discharge speed. The ash layer is too high and the gas resistance increases, which is generally controlled at about 100m.
The height of the oxide layer is generally small because the oxidation reaction is fast. The height of the reduction layer is determined by the speed of the reduction reaction, which is related to the temperature and composition of the gas rising from the oxidation layer. It is also related to factors such as the temperature of the reduction layer itself, the reactivity of the fuel, and the lumpiness of the fuel. In order to make the reaction complete, the gasification layer should be maintained at a corresponding height and the gasification temperature should be appropriately increased. If the raw material particle size is large and the thermal stability is good, the height of the gasification layer should generally be maintained high to facilitate the full progress of the gasification reaction. For gasification of some coal types with high volatile content, such as young bituminous coal or lignite, the height of the carbonization layer becomes very important.
Because most of the volatile matter in coal escapes in the retort layer and produces retort gas. If the carbonization layer is too low, some of the volatile components in the coal will not have time to escape and will be brought to the reduction layer, which will affect the normal progress of the reduction reaction.
For the drying layer of a single-stage gas generator, the main influence is the moisture content in the fuel. The moisture in the coal must be removed before entering the carbonization layer, otherwise it will affect the normal progress of the carbonization. Generally, when gasifying coal with high moisture content, the drying layer height is likely to be larger. When gasifying old bituminous coal with low moisture content, the drying layer height can be appropriately reduced.
